Silver LUNAR Series
The Australia Silver LUNAR series of coins were first issued in 1999 by the PERTH MINT in Western Australia. The coins are issued in line with the Chinese Lunar Calendar as the name would suggest. As the Lunar Calendar has 12 different representations, these coins are due to run for the 12 year cycle, and are as follows:

| * In an unusual twist, the Perth Mint decided to complete the 12 year Lunar cycle 3 years early, to bring the Gold and Silver series in line (as the gold was started in 1996, as opposed to 1999 for the Silver. To 'get round' having coins dated 3 years forward, and as the dates were always on the reverse (not the usual Obverse, the last 3 coins were 'double dated' with the lunar year on the reverse, but 2007 date on the obverse. All the previous coins in the series only had dates on the reverse. | |||
